Primary Categories of Topics for the IT Health Review

There are over 150 topics in the Corporate IT Health for SMBs SMEs. You can exclude items from the review, you can perform quick or draft reviews, and you can add your own topics to the review.

If you are familiar with the business and the IT function, a quick review can be conducted 4 to 8 hours. A detailed review engagement can take 2 to 5 days, depending on the complexity of the business and the detail that you want to go into in terms of setting priorities, and developing action plans and budgets. Importantly, because the platform is web based and collaborative, it is very easy to involve a small team and split up both the review effort and the planning element. Supporting discussion threads provide a solid audit trail on concerns, options and decisions.

Other Areas of Review

Server(s)
Laptops & Workstations
Commercial Software
Custom Software

Most companies, or their IT provider, make use of some kind of inventory/IT asset management software to identify inconsistency issues, device failure tracking, low resources, storage, memory, CPU, etc. And software inventory and usage is usually determined by such tools. FuseExpertise for IT Health does not perform this function - there is no value, given that there are thousands of these asset products. The value that we offer is in the review and decision making.

On the hardware front our concern is what level of health are these servers, workstations and laptops at, and if they are not healthy, what are we going to do to improve upon that? There is fundamentally no difference if they are cloud based, virtual machines or physical - the concerns are all the same.

When it comes to software we are also concerned with compatibility, effectiveness, training, etc. A lot of commercial off the shelf (COTS) software is purchased, installed, then never used or incorrectly or poorly used.

Custom software is a major issue for a lot of companies. Custom software could be as simple as a spreadsheet with macros that performs an important reporting function, or some custom web site code that integrates your web site with your accounting software or your merchant payment provider. Companies are frequently at risk when they don't consider these as IT assets and fail to know who made them, who owns them, how they are supported, and who to call when they stop functioning or need to be improved.

FuseExpertise provides a very easy way to add these assets and evaluate them for risks and opportunities. You need not replicate the inventory asset information that probably already exists in one or two other asset packages. We are focused on why you are at risk, what opportunities exist and plans for getting you to a healthier state.

Employee Feedback
Improvement Opportunities
Collaboration
Analytics and BI

Incredibly, employee feedback on their IT experience, competency and knowledge is missing in almost all organizations. With the pervasiveness of IT and its integration with practically all job functions, it is amazing that the only connection in most organizations is the support/help desk. No wonder the majority of employees cite technology as their number one area of stress! We encourage short, personal meetings with staff to capture their input/feedback - and we capture this important feedback in FuseExpertise.

Improvement opportunities can also be captured in FuseExpertise. Companies are, potentially, missing the benefits of whole categories of software simply because they don't know about them or never considered that they might have a need to - software issues that they currently address in some band-aid fashion. We table most of the major areas of application to start a dialogue. We do not get into details here, but rather just act as the catalyst for further review.

Collaboration is at the heart of FuseExpertise and the best way to move IT forward is to involve key stakeholders in the review and decision making promise. All IT initiatives succeed or fail based on the level of involvement. Communication is the key to success.

With FuseExpertise there is no printing. The platform is the living reporting and business intelligence system that you need to move IT forward. And if you have the full license for FuseExpertise, you realize that you can use it to capture all of your business intelligence, capture productivity, share and improve. You can also use it to significantly augment any business function, financial, marketing, sales, production. Whether you capture, share and use expertise from a productivity perspective or use if for reviews or due diligence, it will be the best IT investment you have ever made.
